Data collection projects
Three cross domain research projects have been
undertaken in the region.
-
Collection Mapping project - maps existing data on
collections in archives and libraries, identifying collections by factors such
as material type, subject area, size, scope, storage conditions and identifies
gaps in existing collections data. Full
report.
-
Metadata project - Collect information about cataloguing
systems and metadata in museums, archives and libraries.
-
Labour Market Information Survey - Collect information on the north west
library and archive labour market. Following a similar project in the museum
sector, it looks primarily at the recruitment and retention, employment
categories, age and gender distribution, ethnic origins, qualifications, skills
shortages and training facilities. Download full
report (pdf format).
