In 2003 for the very first time archives services, libraries, museums and community groups joined together in September, to celebrate the treasures held by archive services in this region and to raise awareness of the role they play within the heritage of the North West. This is a joint project between NWRAC and NWMLAC.

The Festival will take place during Archive Awareness Month which will be run by the National Council on Archives and co-ordinated with the North West Diversity Festival, Hidden Talents, which will take place between September and December.
